Japanese novelist Haruki Murakami was so consumed by running he combined two of his loves to write a book called ‘What I Talk About When I Talk About Running‘. Although an odd concept, it’s actually quite a compelling read.  Not only did I think this title was really great (although paraphrased from Raymond Carver), but it also reminded me of my own rather obsessive compulsions. I had a decent run on CNBC’s Squawk Box this morning with a segment all to myself (hark, just before sunrise). We discussed the usual suspects – OPEC, Saudi Arabia, global price pain-points, and yep – US shale break-evens. I compared pinpointing a single number for US shale break-evens to playing ‘pin the tail on the donkey’. Alas, they always cut my funny bits from the clips.
